The Center launches the application of the Learning Difficulties Program on the occasion of the Gulf Day for Learning Difficulties under the slogan “We Can”

The Executive Director General and Director of Research and Training of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, Dr. Ola Muhyiddin Abu Sukkar, announced the launch of the interactive application for learning difficulties for smart devices, which is a development of a previous awareness application sponsored by the King Salman Center for Disability Research since 2013 AD, during her opening speech in a panel discussion “Map The Path to Aspirations” was organized by the King Salman Center for Disability Research and the Arab Office for the Gulf States in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, on Monday, 24 Shaban 1440 AH, corresponding to April 29, 2019 AD, under the slogan “We Can” on the occasion of the Gulf Day for Learning Difficulties, which is celebrated on the third of May. Every year, an elite group of experts and specialists in fields related to educating people with learning disabilities from the Kingdom’s universities, the Ministry of Education, the King Salman Center for Disability Research, and the Arab Education Bureau for the Gulf States also participated in the seminar. The Charitable Society for Learning Disabilities and a group of teachers and parents of school students also participated.

The panel discussion aimed to unify the efforts made in developing services directed to students with learning difficulties and their families. In turn, representatives of the King Salman Center for Disability Research presented an introduction to the research and training outputs provided through the National Program for Learning Disabilities since its establishment in 2012, which is supported by Boeing in accordance with the agreement of understanding concluded between Center and Boeing.

The Learning Difficulties Program application in its initial form is the first awareness application in the Arabic language for learning difficulties and a source of information for families, teachers and those interested because it contains a database of various information related to this field. It is the first interactive application available through providing consultations and effective teaching strategies through evidence-based practices illustrated via Explanatory video clips, in addition to a number of measurement tools and initial indicators to identify learning difficulties in the early stages and other features.

The importance of the panel discussion is to determine the research and training priorities needed by people with learning difficulties, male and female teachers, and specialists to begin an action plan at different and gradual levels and measure the impact of training to achieve maximum benefit.

At the conclusion of the discussion panel, the participants stressed the need to coordinate and combine efforts made by the competent and relevant authorities to address learning difficulties and develop programs, and the importance of specialized educational research in order to improve their performance and benefit the development of education and improve its results, in addition to the importance of training in consolidating and developing skills and raising the competencies of male and female teachers. And those working in the field of learning difficulties concluded by offering their thanks and appreciation to all parties and individuals participating in the discussion group, hoping for the continuation and continuation of such discussion groups to permanently monitor all developments in the methods and capabilities of learning difficulties.
